King Ibu is an award winning musician from Podor, Senegal that has shared the stage with greats such as Carlos Santana, Poncho Sanchez, Femi Kuti, The Wailers, Youssou Ndour, Tim Weisberg, The Hard Road Trio, Dirk K, Becaye Aw, and Brody Dolyniuk. King Ibu brings his love for music to the audiences by playing music with roots that lie in the centuries-old tradition of West African Griots.
Despite its ancient foundations, Ibu's music is a mix of contemporary textures and arrangements. It’s an uplifting and spiritual approach to storytelling.
Instrumentation of his music includes vocals, guitars and percussions creating an invigorating backdrop of polyrhythmic and joyful grooves.
Ibu’s music is part get-up and dance and part reflective commentary. It is a combination of the old and the new, a reflection of ancient expression portrayed through a lens of social consciousness of today’s world. More than anything else, it is moving and stimulating both emotionally and intellectually.
In this most recent collaboration, King Ibu shares his love of music and ancient yogic traditions to create music and mantras that invoke spiritual and ecstatic emotions to perpetuate movement and meditation.
